Neuromuscular Massage

Involves sculpting of muscle tissues and their attachments to the bones they support and move.  This deep muscle therapy balances muscles and your posture to work together more efficiently, to throw a ball. or run, to walk up stairs, or sit for a period of time, all with greater ease of movement.

Muscles require a circulation of blood to fully relax, or move with other muscles, when called into any type of movement.  Muscles are wrapped in nerve fibers which continually send impulses to the brain.  The brain, then sends back signals to your muscles, to move your bones, or to just relax.

This nerve fiber / muscle connection, when free of restrictions, promotes a greater circulation to muscles and a more responsive nervous system.

Cranio-sacral Therapy

A gentle, non-invasive bodywork technique.  It enhances your bodies own healing process by moving restricted fluid from within your cranium and spinal cord, releases fascia which binds nerves, blood vessels and muscles, relaxing your central nervous system.

The Cranio-sacral system is made up of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord.  This also includes all the bones of your cranium, spinal column and Sacrum.  Just like the rhythm of the cardiovascular or respiratory system, the Cranio-sacral rhythm (or motion) can also be found and measured anywhere in the body.

The hydraulic motion of the cerebrospinal fluid moves through it's protective membranes, also moving your bones.  This motion creates the rhythm of the Cranio-sacral system.  Through gentle palpation, information like symmetry, range of motion, and quality of the Cranio-sacral rhythm will lead to imbalances in your body and the causes of restrictions and tension.

How these Therapies help you

Injuries and stress will leave tramas in skin, muscles, nerves, and bones.  The Cranio-sacral rhythm reveals underlying restrictions in the body that cause visual effects like headaches, TMJ dysfunctions and back pain.

Tight overstressed muscles affect your posture, ease of movement, and your nerves, creating tension throughout your body.  Deep release of restricted muscles promotes circulation, and allows the central nervous system "via nerves" to communicate effectively with all of the body.

When we establish a connection between muscles, bones and the central nervous system, we create a "neuromuscular" or "bodymind" connection and treat the whole body.  Tension and pain can be from an old injury or from the memory of a past trama held in the body, which can also block the physical healing process.  Cranio-sacral therapy works deep,  even with it's light touch, letting the body remember so healing can be completed on a physical and emotional level.

Deep structural work, lighter flowing massage and Cranio-sacral Therapy all create long term healing effects letting the body restore and move with more freedom.

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

  • Decreased anxiety.
  • Enhanced sleep quality.
  • Greater energy.
  • Improved concentration.
  • Increased circulation.
  • Reduced fatigue.

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
  • Ease medication dependence.
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
  • Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
  • Increase joint flexibility.
  • Lessen depression and anxiety.
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping.
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
  • Relieve migraine pain.
